Week of October 20, 2025
As the Seasons Change

Cool, crisp mornings, early sunsets, darkness by dinnertime—and then yesterday it was summer again, but suddenly last night...monsoon, for Pete's sake! Nevertheless, the fall weather is making its presence known more and more each day. We're enjoying apple and pumpkin picking at all the great Jersey farms and getting out our sweaters, at least for leaving the house in the mornings.

And what about Halloween? Are you getting ready for Trick or Treating? Do you buy your candy now or wait until the last minute? And what do you do after all the gathering of sweets is done—eat a bunch that night, sort it out to enjoy over time, something else? At least one student I happen to know personally doesn't actually eat candy but loves trick or treating, so all the ghoulish booty goes to appreciative coworkers instead. (Except the Smarties and Starbursts...those are mine, all mine—mwah-ha-haaa!!)

Whatever your tradition, start preparing now for next week's Halloween parade. This week at school is rather quiet, but there is a parents' workshop tomorrow. More info below.

And happy Diwali to all who celebrate the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance—those are good things, we like those.  Enjoy this Festival of Lights, all!
